Kanchana, a beauty, who made young men fall flat for her four decades ago, with her debut film, Kadhalikka Naeramillai, was an air hostess with Indian Airlines at the age of 18, when director C.V. Sridhar spotted her. This was certainly a flight of fortune to Kanchana and her family, which was completely sunk in debts. She was a Bharathanatyam dancer.
